    Default Ex-Roommate Took Property

My question involves personal property located in the State of: New Jersey.

I recently moved out of a rental unit with some other roommates. One roommate moved out early and took with him some of my electronics. The value of the electronics is approximately $300. He now refuses to give any of it back. Can I take him to small claims court? Would it be worth it? I feel like the honest threat of taking him to court might be enough for him to give it back, but would the legal costs outweigh the value of the electronics?

    Thanks for your help

If your roommate has $300 of your property and won't return it, you can take him to small claims court. It's up to you to decide if it's worth the cost and effort.
