Default Ticket / Citation Not Submitted

My question involves traffic court in the State of: California.

I know this question has been submitted multiple times before but unfortunately previous threads are closed to new posts.

Like others, I have a citation which I received (this one for a rolling stop / failure to stop) and the ticket does not show up in the LA superior court system. I have called by phone, searched by ticket number and license number but do not see anything.

My appearance date is in about 1.5 weeks. As others have noted in the past, I apparently have to wait 1 year before I can consider this ticket dismissed. In the meantime, I would like to know the best way to proceed.

I would like to avoid the hassle of going to court to "prove my appearance."

    1) Is there something I can do by mail which would be equivalent?
    2) Furthermore, what does the community think about not showing up on the due date? Rather, I would consistently check the court website for my ticket and respond when it is registered.
    3) Would there be any kind of penalty for this?

    Thanks in advance!

The information on the website is not a substitute for information that you can receive in person from the court clerk, and several sections in the "L A Superior Court Online User Agreement" which automatically appears when you attempt a search for information state this same fact (specifically sections 1, 5, 7 & 8).

    Your choice!

The court website may nit be up to date. The only way you can avoid the ramifications of failing to appear in court is to actually appear in court. Even if not in the system on that date, appear and get some sort of stamp proving you were there. Numerous people have posted on this site complain that they later received an FTA and the ticket was not in the system before court so they did not show. It is better to have proof of your compliance than to run the risk of trying to undo an FTA.
