My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Washington.
I just recently had a daughter and the social worker at the hospital I had her at told me that I am officially emancipated because i had a daughter. But that i cannot file for taxes because i am still underage and a dependent of my mother. Recently a friend of mine told me that what the social worker said was false and that i can file for my own taxes because i am legally emancipated and that i am no longer a dependent of my mother.
I was wondering if this was true, that i am now legally emancipated and no longer a dependent of my mother?
