Default Torn ACL While Playing in a Recreational Basketball League

My question involves injury or loss that occurred in the state of: WASHINGTON.

The incident happened in a structured league environment. There were referees who were provided by the league. In my opinion the game was allowed to be too rough. When getting a rebound an opposing team member fell into the side of my knee.

It turns out to be a completely torn ACL and will require surgery.

I understand that injuries happen but this is a light league not something competative. I believe there is supposed to be a waiver before playing but I was never given one and never signed one.

Do I have any legal recourse? If so, is it a good option?

Fouls are part of the game. When you play, you accept the risk that you will be injured in the course of regular play, even by a foul. In your case it sounds like an unfortunate accident, not even a foul. Part of the game.

Unless you can prove the opponent intentionally hurt you which clearly is outside the scope of your consent to "being touched" as ordinarily in ball games, you wouldn't have a case because you basically assume the risk whenever you play contact sports and it doesn't require your signed waiver for court to find that you assumed the risk.
