Default Is Texas State Jail Sentence Reduction Possible

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas

My Son is serving 15 months in TX on a possession charge. Is there a possibility of sentence reduction with trustee status, vocational programs, or good behaviour? He was three weeks shy of finishing two years of probation and they revoked for non payment of fees and a failed UA from 6 months prior. This is his first offense.

    Thank you for your assistance.

He should discuss his situation with a local criminal defense lawyer. Sentence reductions are difficult to obtain. It is my understanding that you cannot get "good time" for a Texas jail term.

Fifteen months, though - this is jail, not prison?

I call it prison. They call it state jail and apparently different rules apply. I didn't take "corrections as a second language" in high school so am having a very difficult time translating. He was given 15 months and had already been there 3 months and was supposed to be credited with back time but when they told him his projected release date it was the full 15 months with no back time. The county jail tried to answer some questions but once they leave they don't get anymore info. and anyone beyond that has treated me like a criminal. I am sad that their job makes them view everyone as the enemy. It is very frustrating. Thank you for your attempt to answer my questions.

If your son is over 18, they cannot tell you anything.

I will say that dropping dirty while on probation for a possession charge was just a stupid thing for your son to do. Judges really don't look kindly on people that are released on probation as a gift and then the probationer craps on the opportunity.
