    Default Class a Misdemeanor Battery

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Indiana

Is Class A Misdemeanor Battery considered a serious offense? One person told me its only felonies that are considered serious offenses, is that true? Thank you for your time.

    IC 35-50-3-2
    Class A misdemeanor
Sec. 2. A person who commits a Class A misdemeanor shall be imprisoned for a fixed term of not more than one (1) year; in addition, he may be fined not more than five thousand dollars ($5,000).
    As added by Acts 1976, P.L.148, SEC.8. Amended by Acts 1977, P.L.340, SEC.124.

It is a serious offense. It could be a situation that can haunt you for a while, possibly permanently.

I went to an interview and they flat out told me no that they will not hire me because of my charge. They said in 5 years they can hire me. I was told that my best bet was to get into construction, truck driving or factory work. Any suggestions on what careers are off limits? I'm sure I can't work with the public or ever join the military. I'm 24 and I know what I did was wrong and I just want to be a productive member of society. I just want to get on with my life and stay out of trouble. I'm currently taking nonviolence classes but I can't find a job to pay for them so my mom is paying for them and its causing financial problems. I just don't want to be a burden to my mom anymore.

are you eligible for an indigent program? You may be able to qualify if your state allows that. A lot of my clients find permanent jobs through temp services also. Maybe that will help.

I live in a small town and the temp services do nothing but screw you over. Basically they hire you to work for a month and claim the job will become permanent then tell you that you're no longer reporting there and then tell you there are no new jobs. Manpower let me go because of my misdemeanor. I'm just going to do a lot more research. Thank you guys for your time I appreciate it.

I do domestics for a living. You can't control who hires you. But, yes those three options are pretty viable.
