My question involves criminal law for the state of: PENNSYLVANIA
Was cited for defiant trespass [I believe only as a summary offense]. I had been visiting a friend in an apartment complex who was house sitting for another neighbor in the complex. Later that evening, with one other person, I had gone into the apartment next door for some privacy [roughly twenty minutes]. However, the apartment owner who was away found this out and summoned the police to press charges for trespassing.
What will come of this? Is it worth fighting? Can the friend [who was house sitting] be in any trouble since she was the one maintaining the apartment for the owner who was away. Further, she did let us in the apartment earlier in that night while checking up on things and feeding the neighbors cat.
Is it worth asking the apartment's owner to drop the charges? I will be applying for a job that does background checks [working in schools] and this could destroy my career.
Currently awaiting what the fine will be from the magistrate.
