No, I got laid off 5 yrs ago & because of my age (55 at the time) & the fact that my experience is in warehousing & manufacturing the age factor has been a hinderance. I keep getting told I am over qualfied for the jobs. I get lots of interviews & tested & they have all said I scored extremly high in all aspects of the test. But the positions that I was able to find out who was hired has always been young, entry level individuals & most of them men. I have no trouble starting in an entry level position & working my way up, but that does not seem to make a difference. I have been told that their deciding factor was the cost in training me for maybe 5 more yrs of work vs the training of someone who may stay 30 yrs & then asked wouldn't I be happier working in a service job. Which I have tried but get that I have no experience & some of the same responses.
I had worked 26 years of this marriage & 12 yrs before it, with the first 20 of those married years making more than my husband.
