Mother Wants to Move Kids to Different School - I Don't Want Them to Be Moved

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: MI

I have joint custody of my children with my XW. I have the kids 40% of the time.

She has moved to a different city. She is within legal rights because in Michigan you can move as long as it is less than 100 miles away.

She now wants to move schools closer to her new house. The school systems are very comparable based on all research I have done. They are settled in their current school with friends, etc.

Can she do this?

Assuming that the two of you have joint legal custody, your ex can act to change their school and you can either allow it or petition the courts to bar her from transferring the kids. You can, through the courts, require that she show why it is in your childrens' best interests to change schools.
