My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Illinois
I was planning to move to Illinois and found a house with four other people. I paid for the security deposit and first and second month's rent for the people living there now since they could not pay for it, as well as the utilities, but I have not moved in yet. However, plans have changed and I will not be moving to Illinois or moving into the house. The other people also do want to break the lease. The question is for me, though, only. The others have signed the lease. I never signed the lease and have never taken possession of the premises. If the lease is broken, does it apply to me?
