My question involves criminal law for the state of: Oregon
OK so 2 years ago (about 3 months being 18) i was with my friend in a store and he shop lifted. I was there with him but did not touch a single item but either way i knew and he got caught in my car with the stolen objects (about 4$ worth of stolen goods) we were pulled over by an officer and he arrested us and booked us. Later i was charged with a misdemeanor but i had it reduced to a infraction. They told me it did not count as an actual crime. But i applied for a retail store and was offered 10.50/hr (this is 2 years later)
but i was not hired because their security background check said i had a misdemeanor and a infraction. So i called them asking to fix it and they said it could take up to 19 days or more.... so doubt i am getting any job. I wanted to know if i could get this expunged in any way or at least not have it show up on background checks since it is only a infraction. (preferably i would like to get it removed) can any one help me or is this a lost cause and will it remain with me forever for less than 4$ of merchandise that my idiot friend took.
