Unhappy Husbands Ex Girlfriend Took His Son to Another State to Live. with Out Telling Us

My question involves a child custody case from the State of:LA
Eight years ago my husbands ex girlfriend took his soon to another state with out his knowledge. My husband had visitation rights by court order (every other weekend). We found out when we went to pick him up from school on Friday. The school informed us that his records were sent to another state. the school also stated that if the father came looking for him not give any information. we could not find them. At that point my husband quit paying child support due to him loosing his job. 8 years has passed with out seeing or talking to his son. This past weekend my husbands son contacted us his is fifteen years old now. So i went and got him and he stayed to weekend with us. He has a half sister from my husband and I. They got along great. Last time the son saw her was when she was one years old. The son has been living with his great grandmother for that last 6 years. He said his mom got married and has some kids and there was no room for him. The son text me tonight and said his mom came and took he bk to her house and that he is to never see us again. Is there anything we can do? The son is very upset and so is our daughter.

He really shouldn't have had you do anything at all - and even HIM picking up his son from Great-Grandma's without Mom's knowledge would have been a mistake. You can't really blame Mom for being upset about this...Dad hasn't been in contact for eight years and suddenly his wife - stepmom! - is picking up the child for the weekend?

What Dad needs to do is file to enforce visitation. While the child living away from the custodial parent is usually grounds to modify custody, in this instance that's incredibly unlikely given that Dad hasn't done anything to pursue contact for the past however long.

Expect Mom to state that son is now living with her, and expect Dad to get supervised visitation in her community with a reintroduction period.

Are you even sure of the living arrangements?
