My question involves a background check in the State of: New Jersey
In Nov of 2010 my wife and I got into an arguement and she called the police. I was arrested for simple assault and released the same evening. We went to court a week later and the judge told us to seek counseling for 3 months and come back. We came back in February 2011 with my attorney and the charges were dismissed.
I am working on expungement currently.
I was wondering how this will affect employment in the state of New Jersey. I am interviewing for a job in the healthcare field in the upcoming weeks and from my understanding, do not have to check off that I was convicted of a crime because it was dismissed (I have the disposition paper and will bring it to the interview in case a question arises).
Are there typically questions about arrest on the background checks? Since the case was dismissed but the arrest record is there, what should I expect? This is my first issue with worrying about background checks and would just like to inquire about some information.
thanks
