My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Oklahoma
I checked my credit report, and found a listing for a collections account posted to my credit just last month. It is for a hospital visit from 6 months ago, which seems to me a very short time to end up on my credit report. I did go to the hospital, and I received a notice from the insurance company explaining what they paid. I had no reason to believe from that statement that I owed anything else, and at the time of service asked to hospital about paying, and they said that they would send me a bill if insurance did not cover everything. I had never been to the er before and didn't know how it worked. I did move one month later, but followed proper procedure for changing my address, and my phone number did not change, and I now live at the address that has always been listed as my primary address. I never got a bill from the hospital, and I was never contacted by a collections agency. My question is, how do I get this off my credit report? I want to pay the bill, but I don't feel it should be a hit on my credit, and I know if I pay the collections agency, it will be a negative mark on my credit.
