My question involves real estate located in the State of: Pennsylvania
My husband and I recently purchased a large piece of wooded ground. There is a public road that comes down and then comes to a dead end along a creek. The road used to continues on but 15 years ago the township abandoned the road and the farmer now owns it. He has put in a gate at the dead end. Before the dead end we put in a lane going up to the top of the hill and built our new home. The problem is that the dead end has been the hang out place for parties, parkers, druggies, and dumping ground. We have called the township for help and they say we are the property owners and are to handle any problems. We posted the ground with multiple no tresspassing signs and people continue to ignore them. We even have people down there shooting guns when our children are outside. We want to know what our rights our. It is a public road that comes to a dead end. Anyone that comes down there and stops there vehicle can be told to leave? We are going to a township meeting to see about putting in a new gate and stopping all the traffic and requesting the township abandon that part of the road.
What are our rights? Any suggestions?
