Question Parental Rights After Allowing the Custodial Parent to Relocate to Another Country

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: NY

I have a friend who is currently residing in Jamaica and he has a child that was born and lives in the United States. His child's mother wants to migrate to Canada and was recently approved but she needs the father to sign paperwork to allow the child to move and live there. If he does sign this and allow this- would he lose any and all rights to the child as the father as well as lose any custody to her?

Default Re: If a Father Permits a Child to Move Out of the U.S. with Child - Does He Lose His

No, he wouldn't lose his rights or claims upon custody, but enforcing those court orders becomes increasingly difficult when the child establishes a life in another country.

Just my personal opinion, but I would be really hesitant to agree to such a relocation.
