My question involves real estate located in the State of: Kansas. I have a neighbor that moved in about two years ago next to my property behind my house with my garage on it. The land was purchased by my father approx 25 years ago and a garage was built two feet from the property line and a number of trees and flowers were planted. There are three fruit trees, two with the trunks clearly on my property and the third on the line. The branches hang over the line approx six feet, they are dwarf fruit trees. My neighbor moved in a couple of years ago and thought he owned several feet of my property. (he had a few beers one night and bragged to his golfing buddies about how he owned my land) He then started to mow over my flowers, cut down one of my trees and trimmed the three fruit trees (very badly, and some on my side) A few months ago, I put up a small fence around the flowers so he wouldn't mow over them, (he won't talk to me about this) and he got furious, got a survey and found out he didn't own what he thought. In order to not look like a total idiot in front of the few of his friends, he now put up a string, (yes, a string) along the property line and weaved it around one of the fruit trees closest to the line trying to claim it was his. He has ran off the neighbors I told could get the fruit if they want it, and won't let anyone near the trees, (even on my side). I cannot get to the two feet of property on the side of my garage to mow due to "disturbing his string". All I want is access to the trees which we have had for the last 20+ years. What can I do without spending a lot of money on legal fees? Thanks in advance.
