My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Washington although I am a resident of the state of California
Over the summer I am visiting family for 3 months in the Seattle area
one night, when i was driving home from the gym I accidentally ran the red trying to cut the yellow light and the flash went off and I'm pretty sure it got me.
I am aware that there is no trial by declaration for the state of Washington and I might be home in California by the the ticket arrives for me to pay it or plead not guilty in Washington. I have 3 concerns/questions
1.) If I don't open the physical letter, don't log onto the website to view my citation, and don't contact them; can I say i never received the letter to possibly get an extension?
2.) Is there any way i can plead not guilty claiming I am a California resident and not even in the state of Seattle, i don't know how my car was there?
3.) i feel that my drivers license photo may be quite different than how i look now, is there any way I can plead not guilty claiming it is not me?
I'd also like a possible idea of the cost of this fine, in the state of California they cost upwards of $450 but Washington is a much different state; so does anyone have any estimate as to what it might cost?
