    Default 7-Day Revocation Period

My question involves employment and labor law for the state of: Iowa

I was let go from a company this past November. I worked for the company for 6 1/2 years with nothing short of exemplary performance. My old boss felt I had been talking behind him behind his back and therefore wrote me up for a number of false (can be proven) events. Long story short, I contacted HR and was promised an HR investigation would be done (he has a history of people leaving b/c of him). After asking HR 3 times if an investigation was done I was told a third time that none was ever done and that they had "dropped the ball". Ultimately he managed to get me fired and the reason they gave me was I was "unhappy" (nothing related to performance.

My questions is surrounding the separation package agreement I signed. I signed a separation agreement because they said I would not get my severance of $6k if I didn't sign it. They only gave me 5 days to sign it (2 of which were sat and sun) and stated that I had 0 (zero) days to revoke it. I have been looking online and am wondering if they actually needed to give me more days to sign it as well as at least 7 days to revoke my signature. I have found some info online that states that if at least 7 days is not given then the agreement is null and void if you are over 40. I am only 29. Does this 7-day rule still apply to me?

    Thanks,
    BenF

I presume you would like to void the contract. Have you offered to repay the money if they will void the contract?

and if the law you speak of concerns employees over 40 and you aren't over 40, than that law does not apply to you.

I am just wondering if the separation agreement is non-enforceable as they gave me zero days for revocation even though I am under 40 years of age.

I found nothing that would require them to allow you time to rescind the contract. If you keep the money, the contract is enforceable. You don't get to keep the money and refute the contract.
