My question involves a traffic ticket from the District of Columbia.
I believe I was caught going through a red light camera going from Maryland into the District. I am new to the area, and where I am from there is a law stating that there must be signs to notify drivers of the cameras. Also, I had no idea that a camera was there or DC's policies on red light cameras until today.
So, my question is, as I am having a hard time negotiating the DC Code, is there anywhere in the code specifying the need for signage notifying drivers of red light cameras in the District? I noticed on the Metro Police website that they say there are signs at certain gateways to the city, and I assume that going from Maryland into the District would be a gateway, but there are no signs. I went back and checked. In any case, are there any grounds on which I can dispute the ticket, should my parents get to see it when it's sent to my registration's address?
Thanks!
