Thank you in advance for your assistance.

My questions involve the possibility for either 1) an expungement or 2) sealing of police records in Georgia. The person involved was given First Offender treatment which let's this person say there was 'no conviction,' and nothing turns up on routine background checks. However, the police/arrent records are still available to anyone with access to 'the system'. We are trying to find a way to expunge or seal the arrest/police records.

For what it's worth, there was no jail time, no fine, no restitution, not even any community service. The only punishment was 2 years probation. At this time, the 'victim' maintains a good relationship with the person involved and would cooperate in any petition or appeal.

Does Georgia law provide for a petition/appeal process?
If so, how does one go about this?

Sincere thanks,
