Angry Self-Employed with a Looming Credit Card Summons

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Florida
Hello, I know a summons is in the works as I was not home when delivery was attempted and my finace didn't take it. I know avoiding it will cause a default judgement. I am terrified of this process. I own my home but owe way more than it's worth and I am never late on my mortgage payments. The furniture and most of the stuff belongs to my fiance. I am self employed with a small craft business and most of the time my bank account does not have alot in it.......I can pay my bills and thats about it. I had to default on some credit cards because though I had never been late and was no where near my limits, about a year ago they all cut my limit to what I owed and raised my APR to 29.9. I could not afford the payments and had to choose between them or my mortgage. I did keep some cards that were reasonable and continue to pay down my debt. I am wondering what will happen to me in this state, FL and it is Citi bank coming after me with an Orlando attorney for around $6500 plus I am sure. I have an appointment with an attorney this week, but still have not gotten the summons. Will they take all my bank account money and seize my property, I don't own a car and I work at home........

I am not sure what your total debt load is, but if it's enough to justify your considering paying $6,500 to a lawyer to defend you against a debt you apparently concede that you owe, you may want to instead consider consulting a bankruptcy lawyer.

Hello, Thanks for responding........ My debt load is considerable however I am uncertain about bankrupcy as I still do have a good mortgage and other cards etc that are in good standing. I can't imagine the attorney I am going to see for a consultation regurading this matter charging me as much as the credit card debt itself, $6500 is the card amount,......if thats the case then I will have to forgo the attorney..... I am mainly wondering what exactly they can take from me pertaining to what I posted in the thread. It is my understanding that a lien on my property may be the jist of it. I will have to wait and see I guess what the attorney suggests. Maybe to settle............
