My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: California
Yesterday, as I was coming home from picking up my brother, I was pulled over by a motorcycle cop and ticketed for a CVC 21453(a). He asked me if I knew why he pulled me over and I replied in the negative. He said I failed to stop at a red light before turning right, but I'm sure I stopped. I didn't say anything to aggravate him though because I remembered reading somewhere that I should cooperate with the officer (while not admitting guilt.) My brother, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, is certain I stopped as well. I want to contest the ticket, but I understand that it's my word against his and he probably has better odds. I talked to my friend about it and he said he had a similar experience. He got his ticket deferred (no tickets for a year.) The thing is, he's from Seattle so the traffic laws must be different. I'm in Orange County, CA and have no idea if this is even possible here. So my question is: Is it possible to get a CVC 21453(a) ticket deferred? If not, what is my best option?
