Married to a US Citizen, have 4 kids who are US Citizens. We all lived in the US from 1999 to 2005, when we returned to Canada (where we are a legal citizens). While we lived there I applied for and was granted a resident alien card. It was lost with some other possessions when we move back to Canada. I didn't know that I probably should have relinquished the card when we moved back. We'd now like to move back to the USA within the next year and I wondering what to do? Can I just book and appointment at the US Embassy in Calgary, take all my paperwork, and fill out an application for another card? Can I apply immediately for citizenship? Can I do this while living in Canada? Is this a good situation to hire an immigration lawyer for assistance.
Thanks for any help you can provide!
