My question involves paternity law for the State of: OHIO
me and my boyfriend had my daughter last july and he knew she was not his and signed the birth certificate and stuff.. now we are broke up and now i want to go after the real father and do the right thing... but i heard and read online that i have to get this dealt with before her first bday bc he signed the affivadait...... now what would happened if it goes over a yr.. does that mean that my bf will have to pay child support and the real father will get away free.... also does that deadline mean i have to get it all said and done before her birthday or could i just get it started by filing saying my ex believes hes not the father...?
heres what i got from my countys child support?
Either parent may rescind the acknowledgement no later than 60 days after the date of the latest signature by:Requesting the CSEA, in the county where the mother and child reside, to conduct genetic testing, or by delivering a written notice to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Office of Child Support, Central Paternity Registry. After the 60-day time period, the only way for either parent to rescind the acknowledgement is to bring a private court action to rescind. This must be accomplished within in one year after paternity was established
