Default Long-Term Effect of Dismissal After Pretrial Diversion

If one underwent a pre trial diversion for retail theft and is due in court in 3 and half months to show that all the requirements are met. Charges will be dropped and expungement on the arrest record can be done. Pre trial diversion didnt require entering a guilty plea of any kind ( be it nolo contendere, guilty or admitting to the facts in court ) I asked my lawyer and he said I didnt admit to anything. No probation, no supervision I was asked to do 5 days of community service and attend a theft class.QUESTION IS WILL THIS HAVE A MAJOR EFFECT ON APPLYING FOR A LICENSURE IN THE STATE AND JOB EMPLOYMENT??? IF ARREST RECORDS ARE EXPUNGED WILL THIS STILL BE A PROBLEM???this happened in illinois, and you can only expunged records that does not have convictions.... I have been very worried about this. Please advise...im also a legal resident and has plans of naturalizing eventually. Thankyou so much for the reply in advance

You weren't convicted of anything, and didn't admit to any damaging facts because no plea was required. I would expect any impact of this incident to be minimal.

how about the police record? will they also look into that? I plan to do expungement of the arrest record right after the dismissal of the case. thanks

According to the Illinois Appellate Defender's Office,
    Quote Quoting Expungement
There is no definition of “expungement” in the Illinois Compiled Statutes. However, a working definition is that when a record gets “expunged,” it is as if the crime never occurred. Each law enforcement agency expunges, or destroys, their records.
