Default Increasing Arrears when Child Support Ends

My question involves child support in the State of: California

At the time of our divorce, my husband had a lucrative job and was ordered to pay $1500 a month. Shortly thereafter, he lost his job, decided to follow his musical pursuits, and subsequently did not pay child support for many years. The arrears now add up to over $200,000. Appx 4 years ago, he joined the corporate world again and began paying support plus arrears, which he can fully afford. My oldest daughter turns 18 this year, so my question is this: Will it be possible to ask the court to increase the arrears payment? Since he obviously can afford it, and at this rate it will take a lifetime to pay back? (maybe a lifetime is not enough). Is this ever done? And can I do it myself through the court, or will I need a lawyer? I would appreciate any input. Thanks so much.
