    Default Adoption in Texas

My question involves adoption law for the State of: Texas.
I was with a girl that moved to Idaho that had seperated from her husband. She left to go back to Texas and then she called and told me she was pregnant. She is putting me on birth certificate as the father but saying her husband is going to adopt the baby when its born. Is there anything I can do to stop that?

She can't put you on the birth certificate like that.

Her husband is presumed to be the legal father because they are married. He doesn't have to adopt. In order for YOU to become the child's legal father - and thus end up on the birth certificate - you would have to file in court to disestablish her husband's paternity.

It might be wise to get an attorney to help you do this.

And you only have a limited time in which you can do so. Oh - and before you do that, GET A PATERNITY TEST.
