Default Going to Another State Without Parents' Consent

Hi, I'm a 16 year old from Texas. I would like to go to Maryland to visit family up there but my mom doesn't want me to go. I have my own job and I have enough saved up for food, hotel, airfare, etc. Could I get in trouble for flying to another state without parental consent? I plan to go in August and I'd be 17 in November. Also, can i book a flight and get on a plane without parental consent? I've never had to deal with airports before so I was a bit curious.

    Thank you!

    Stay home.

You do what your parents tell you to do. Yes, that is the LEGAL answer.

You cannot even book the flight without parental consent.

The people you were visiting could be subject to charges.

The person you are going to Maryland to visit (boyfriend/girlfriend) could find themselves in violation of the Mann Act... a federal felony.

And yes, we know there is a boyfriend/girlfriend in there somewhere, right? Visit family... really?

No, I'm actually going to visit my dad's side of the family.
Just because I'm 16, doesn't mean I'm stupid and would go see a boy in another state.
I'm going to visit my family, so the Mann Act doesn't apply here.

So your father is encouraging you to leave against the wishes of your custodial parent?

Does HE want to face charges?

You know, every day we have 16 year old kids here that pay their own way to visit their father's family.

    Every day.

Why isn't the family paying your way?

Anyway, doesn't matter. You are staying home.
