My question involves an eviction in the state of: New York City
I had a verbal agreement to stay for the month of May 2011 and I paid the rent for one month in full. Now my roommate found someone who wants to move-in and sign a longer term lease so she says I have to leave in 2 days (by May 20th). If I don't move can she evict me? Are there any laws for subtenants staying less than 30 days? I have the rent check, bank statements and mail to this address.
