Quote Quoting Mississippi Code § 97-3-81. Robbery; threatening letter demanding money, property.
Every person who shall knowingly send or deliver, or shall make, and, for the purpose of being sent or delivered, shall part with the possession of any letter or writing with or without a name subscribed thereto, or signed with a fictitious name, or with any letter, mark, or other designation, threatening therein to accuse any person of a crime or to do any injury to the person or property of any one, with a view or intent to extort or gain money or property of any description belonging to another, shall be guilty of an attempt to rob, and shall, on conviction be punished by imprisonment in the penitentiary not exceeding five years.
I expect the defense would be that the money she was trying to obtain was her own. You don't appear to be disputing that some of her money was stolen (apparently you're separated?) and apparently the police found sufficient cause to believe that you committed the theft that they arrested you.

This was because you don't want to sign the documents necessary to end your divorce? So... you want to remain married to this woman?

You will be free to ask the police to investigate her for possibly trying to set you up, or whatever it is you're alleging. I won't promise that they'll be interested in pursuing the report.

trying to see if it was a crime to threaten me to sign the papers or she would have me arrested....the arrest is not the question because she actually did it....but the inital threat was either you sign these or you will go to jail....i did not do what she alleges but that is not the issue..i will be found not guilts and then hit her for malicious prosecution...i am trying to see if there is a blackmail or extortion charge somewhere as well....

Why don't you read what people are posting? The statute has been provided above.
