    Default Ignoring Non-Served Civil Summons

I have seen a lot of people post about civil summons on the site but no one has had my exact question.

I moved from North Carolina over a year ago. About a month ago I got a call from what was when I lived there, my local sheriff department. The message was pretty vague and honestly I just forget to follow up with them since it didn't seem important.

Yesterday and today they called back saying they just need to serve me a civil summons and I need to pick it up.

They do not have my current address or any of my new info- just my phone number.

Since I have technically not been served can I just ignore this? When I looked at the percentage of civil summons this departments serves it says they get about 60-70% served so I'm assuming it's people like me that make up the other 30-40.

I am positive I do not have ANY debts that are over $2000. Absolutly positive. I wonder since this is small and I am now over 3000 miles away if I can just ignore them.

    Any help would be appreciated!

ROFL ... they want you to do their job of serving you properly?? Just ignore it...keep up with any court filings & file a motion to dismiss if they paper-whip the matter. North Carolina is NOT a fact pleading state .. it is a notice pleading state .. one of the few ; a plaintiff's dreamland

They don't have to serve you personally. If they found your phone number they may find your address (did you leave a forwarding order?).
NC allows civil service by mail or fedex.
