Default Father Deported and His 10 Year Ban is Up

My father was deported in 2001 & his 10 year ban from the US is up. I am an american citizen born & raised and I was curious as to what I can do to help with him getting a visa to come back?

He plans to go to the American embassy for a visa & I'm curious if me being american could help him in anyway because he would be coming here because of me. Him & my mom do not speak so im his only hope. If anyone can please give me any advice of what I can do from here to help him it would be greatly appreciated!

The reason I asked is because had you still been a minor, your status as a citizen could not have conferred any benefits to your father, at all.

But since you're turning 21 soon, you could actually sponsor him to become a resident. Of course if he only wants to come visit, that's a moot point.

In any event, there's nothing you can do to persuade the Embassy to issue a tourist visa.

Start by reading EVERYTHING here. No, really, all of it, and all of the links out.

It's expensive, the process requires a pile of paperwork and patience, and it can be frustrating to get through, but most folks who go through it find it worthwhile.

And honestly - when there has been a prior deportation/removal proceeding? An attorney is strongly recommended!
