Default "Pre-Collections" Letter for Medical Bills

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Alabama

I got a pre-collections letter regarding my $30K+ hospital bill yesterday. I have already discussed this bill with the hospital and they are not willing to negotiate with me. I am making payments on all the rest of my medical bills involving this emergency surgery I had to have. I want to know what is the average time period I have until I actually get sued over this. 3 months? 6? 12? Also, I've heard if they get a default judgment against me, I'll have to declare my assets at the time, but they may not collect till up to a year later. Any cash I declare I have would be long gone by then. I know I'm supposed to be truthful, but what to do in that case?

It's entirely up to the creditor whether they sue you tomorrow or the day before the statute of limitations runs on your case.

The truth is the truth. If you have no money when asked about your assets, then you have no money.
