My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: NH

I recently had a roommate move out of an apartment that I am renting from my parents. He has been gone for about a month, but has not come to pick up his stuff. Whenever asked about it, he says that he needs a little bit more time to find a place, as he is currently living with his parents. How long do I have to keep his stuff for before I can get rid of it?

Edit: The roommate did not pay rent for the month he left, nor this month.

Is there a written lease or not? If so, is he on it?

There is no written lease.

Do you have confirmation that he's abandoned his occupancy - preferably in writing? (Email will suffice.)

Just verbal although he has taken all his clothing, computer, and hasn't slept there in a month.

Try to get him to confirm in writing that he has abandoned the property and give him a firm deadline for the removal of his stuff. You don't want to find yourself in a position where he claims continuing tenancy, but that you threw away all of his belongings.
