My question involves expungements or pardons for the state of: Michigan and Indiana. I have a friend that has 2 misdemeanors. One in indiana and one in michigan. The one in michigan happened in 2007 and it was for arson I believe less than $200. It was a prank when she was really young and it was a piece of construction paper that caught on fire. She was barely 18 and didnt have a lawyer and was lost and confused and the plantiff never showed up but they still charged her. Also, the misdemeanor in indiana is for domestic battery and that happened in 2009. She was being abused and beaten and she called the police and they took her even though she called for help. The officer even told her that he knew that she was telling the truth but took her anyways because of formalities. She has not been in trouble since and is in school trying to become a doctor. She has been fired and turned down for jobs because of her background and she has a child and is pretty much unable to make any money or do anything positive with her life because of these small mistakes. Is there anyway she can get a pardon, expungement, vacate, deferrment, or seal her record in each state? Where does she start?
