Default Name Change Laws in Kansas

My question involves name change laws in the State of: kansas

my son is now 6 years old and he does not see his biological father or have much contact with him like 1 time a year is all. I would like to change his last name to my husbands, i have asked for his bio-dads permission but he wont allow it. is there any way to do this without his consent. i have full custode of my son and there is no actual visitation ordered by the court. perternity was established and he only pays child support speratically. my son really wants his name to be the same as ours.

You would have to petition the court to change your child's name and convince the court that, under the facts of your case, it is in the child's best interest to have his surname changed to your husband's.
