My question involves criminal law for the state of: Virginia
So, I received two underage possesion of alcohol charges in may of 2010 at age 19. They were 3 weeks apart. Both of them were just a wrong spot wrong time type deal. I will not go into details about the charges or circumstances. However, I hired a lawyer for both cases and accepted a plea of guilty. The only thing the lawyer got me out of was attending VASAP classes for the charges. I received a fine, community service, and a license suspension for 12 months. I am now 7 months into my suspension. So, the question that I have is: Is there any way that I could appeal to the court to get my license back sooner? I am about to begin my third year of college and have had a full time job throughout the suspension. (I got restricted to drive to and from work and school) However, I am looking to get my CDL and I cannot do so with a suspended license. I have not been in anymore trouble since the charges and have done everything the court has asked of me in a timely manner. I am trying to get my education and start my career but the suspended license is holding me back. So if there is any way that I could get my license back sooner, it would help a lot. I've considered a weekend or two in jail to do so but I would rather not go to jail. Is there anything I can do to get my license back sooner, and if so what are the chances I could and what would I need to do? Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!
