    Default Landlord Won't Allow Erection of a Car Port, But Other Tenants Have Them

    My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Washington

    Hello I am currently having issues with my landlord. I currently live in a trailer park and I put up a carport in front of my trailer not in anyones way it was in my space and I did not ask the landlord if i could do so I assumed it was ok because two other tenants have had carports for several months.

    We'll the landlord watched the construction of the carport and drove by for several days and didn't say a word. He didn't say a word for about ten to twelve days then on the twelth day he knocked on are trailer and said we need to take the carport down I asked why he said because the other carports that were here in this park blew over ina wind strom and caused thousands of dollars in damage. W'ell I know for a fact this is not true because I was there and I watched it happen they blew up but only minor damage to one guys vehicle that owned the carport and he didn't do anything about it.

    So I told the landlord that it is secured in the ground and assured him mine would not blow up it has eighteen stakes in the ground and rope holding it down. he said we'll me and my son in law said you have to take it down anyways.

    So I walked away pretty mad and then called his house and his wife answered the phone and she told me she knew nothing about it just that the owner and his son in law talked about it and agreed for it to come down. We'll I told her I refused to take it down and to have the landlord give me a new answer.

    Two hours later he was back at my place with a NOTICE TO COMPLY WITH THE LEASE/RENTAL AGREEMENT AND/OR RULES/REGULATIONS AND/OR TENANTS DUTIES UNDER RCW 59.20.140 OR TO VACATE

    (PARK RULE) #13 FUTURE BUILDINGS AND LOCATIONS SHALL BE APPROVED BY MANAGEMENT.

    (RENTAL AGREEMENT RULE) TENANT AGREES NOT TO MAKE OR PERMIT ANY CONSTRUCTION ALTERATION ADDITIONS PAINTIN OR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE SPACE NOT TO PERMIT PLACMENT OF A STORAGE SHED THEREON OR ANY OTHER APPURTENANCES WITHOUT PRIOR CONSENT OF LANDLORD.

    YOUR VIOLATION IS AS FOLLOWS
    ON OR ABOUT DECEMBER 15, 2010 YOU PUT A PORTABLE SHED IN FRONT OF YOUR TRAILER WITH OUT PERMISSION IT MUST BE REMOVED IMMETIATLEY

    None of this was filed in court was not stamped or anything But i decided to take it down anyways just so I didn't get in any trouble. We'll now there are new residents at the park and the first day they move in they put up a portable carport we'll i call the landlord his wife answered the phone again and i told her and she said you already used up your space with your addition to you trailer we'll i didn't put up an addition i bought it like this and i told her she was breaking the law and will go to jail and then hung up and calle dback and said Hello just to let you know since evreyone else is putting up carports I decided to put mine back up HAVE A GREAT DAY! hung up

    I really need some insight on this I dont know what to do or where to go from here I have not put the carport up yet I do have room for it she told me the room in front of my trailer is for parking I told her what do you think a car port is for parking your car CARPORT LOL

    If anyone can help me with this would greatly appreciated I lease the space I have room for carport if they have one why cant I. I think he is just trying to punish certain people please help any legal advice will help heres a link to what type of carport it is so you have better understanding thanks.

    Default Re: Land Lord Will Not Alow Me to Have a Carport but Other Tenants Can That Are New

    from what I see;

    the LL reserved the right to allow or deny the installation.

    while you argue others have similar structures, it appears that the location you erected your building is quite different than where others have been allowed to build so you do not have a reasonable argument using the fact others have similar buildings.

    due to that, I see nothing good for you. If that allows for eviction, if you put it up, I suspect you will be evicted if you put it up.
