My question involves criminal law for the state of: Georgia
It is alleged that my 14 year old daughter was raped at school by an 18 year old male. I am not my child’s custodial parent but I did have her legitimized in 1997, I have visitation rights, and I pay child support. I visited the school to speak with the principal, the local police department, and the school system’s attorney in effort to get the facts surrounding the incident. My daughter’s mother has instructed the school system not to release any information to me regarding my daughter and at the same time she will not discuss the situation with me. I feel like I am at a roadblock. I do not know what really happened to my child and nobody is cooperating with me. The school system’s attorney contacted me later and stated that I would have to retain legal counsel to force my daughter’s mother to release the information via a court order. Is this true? Any advice or suggestions are welcomed. Lastly we live in Georgia and all of the aforementioned occurred in Georgia.
Thanks in advance
