Post Can I Win Appeal Based on Quitting a Job I Was Not Qualified to Do in the First Place

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: California

I was on unemployment benefits for over a year when I applied to and was hired for a job. On my first day I realized that the job was far too technical for me and quit in the hopes of continuing my existing UI Benefits until I found a suitable job. When I applied, I only saw the job title and did not read the full description. After I quit I checked the jobs requirements on the company's website. There were 3 minimum requirements listed for the position which I clearly did not meet and they were never brought up or discussed in the interview process.

    1) 3+ yrs as a software engineer - I have never been a software engineer
    2) Must be able to program in object oriented languages - I don't even know what that means?
    3) BS degree in computer science or related field - My highest level of education is High School

California EDD says that because I quit I can't continue to receive benefits. I feel that there was no way I should have ever been hired since I cannot possibly do this job. I feel the 3 points listed above prove there was no reasonable way to expect that I could do this job. This is the basis of my appeal. Do I have a case?

Well, if you had read the job description like you should have, you shouldn't have applied for the job in the first place.

I'm afraid I have to agree. It was not unreasonable to expect you to have read the job description before you applied, and not to apply for jobs that you cannot possibly do.

It's always worth appealing, but I'd be lying if I said I thought you had a good chance.

So you basically lied to get the job?

What the hell did you put on your resume?

I applied to many jobs online based only on the job title. The job title here was "Sales Rep" but in fact it is not a typical sales rep job but rather a specialized position that requires a software engineer who can also sell.

I did not lie on my resume at all.
