My question involves juvenile law in the State of: VA
My son had surgery recently, and I learned that he has a different blood type than my ex-husband (we have been divorced for 15 years). My son was apparently the result of a relationship I had when we were separated. My spouse and I got back together at the time, and I listed him as the father - as I thought he was. Ironically, I never asked for or received any child support for my son. I would like to amend the birth certificate to add the real father's name to it, and change my son's last name. He is OK with all of this. There is a glitch, though - while I was in the process of tracking down the father, I learned that he passed away a year after my son was born. What do I need to do?
