My question involves child support in the State of: Florida
I currently have a court order dated 2004, which is $900/Mo. and it took an all out man hunt for ME to locate him not DOR.....LMAO and finally after chasing him all over the country I finally started getting my child support......it took ME 5 years to make it finally happen : ) and the arrears he owed was unbelievable and he was paying $100+ extra to pay the arrears. anyway......
I recently became disabled and receive disability for myself and my son, and I get the child support. Apparently the social security people took the child support into consideration when making the determination.
What I want to know is how the disability would effect my current child support if I went for a modification? I certainly do not want to go for a modification and receive a decrease.....as it is already hard enough to support the child on what I currently get.
I know that the father makes a significant amount of money per yer and travels the world (irrelevant...LOL) for work.......the original court order was based upon his income straight out of college so I am sure his degree has taken him to a higher pay scale for sure as he is an engineer : )
Anyway Is someone might know how the system works with modifications, and disability and is there a way to determine how much if at all the current child support might change? Please advise if you can help before I do this : )
PS: I also do not want to see a huge increase that will force him to run again : ) and lets give some further info: The original court order which was ordered in 1998 was for $1,435.00/ month for one child and the end result of years of him disputing the amount resulted in an agreement between my attorney and him .....so you see why I think there is more available for my son : ) oh yea this is not really important....but to tell you what kind of guy he is......In 14 years he has never remembered his son's birthday, Christmas nothing ever not even a card or phone call : (
Thanks!
