Default Authorized User on Retail Account

My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: texas
I am in the process of filing chapter 7. I notified a retail account of my intention.
They stated that the authorized user on my account would be responsible for this debt. He is not and has never been a joint account holder. How can I resolve this issue. I do not want it reflected negatively on his credit or him held responsible. Can I write a letter on his behalf stating he is not
    Responsible?

They're taking the position that the authorized user has been using the card? (Is that the case?)

Have you investigated the creditor's policies for removing an authorized user, either at your or that user's request? If so, what are the policies?
