My question involves child support in the State of: Florida
I have had a child support order for my son for $325.12 since 2006 when his father and I divorced. His financial situation has changed recently and instead of having the payments pulled directly out of his check bi-weekly, he is unemployed. He is now paying on his own, and paying the full amount once a month.
The problem I am having is, the state disbursement is sending the money in 2 separate payments. $62 the first week of the month, and the rest almost the last day of the month. I need the money to help with rent and bills at the beginning of the month, and I have called the clerks office, disbursement unit, and child support enforcement to figure out why they aren't giving it to me all at once. Eventually what I was told after 4 hours of calling back and forth, all of them telling me they don't handle that, is that I have to close my case with enforcement and re open it. WHAT?
Why can't I get a straight answer, and who exactly handles the actual payments from the account? I want the money when he pays it, not when they think it's time to send it. I am behind on my bills because I have to wait until the end of the month. It's the 26th now and my electric is due the 28th and rent was due yesterday and I still haven't received the $262 left for this month!
