Default Lease Term Ended, Now Month to Month, How Much Notice is Required

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: New Jersey

So i was on a one year lease that ended in 2009, since then (1 1/2 years later) i have been month to month. I finally found a house and called to give my 30 day notice, my land lord says he needs 60 days notice as per my original lease. There is nothing in the lease about going month to month and what the parameters would be. just that at the end of my one year lease in 2009 he wanted 60 days notice.

Question is can he legally do this per new jersey law?

everything i have read doesn't seem to cover this instance, i mean month to month is basically a monthly lease that ends each month, this kinda makes it 2month to 2month!

I can't read your lease from here. What is the exact language of the lease pertaining to notice?
