    Question Sump Pump Water Discharge

My question involves personal property located in the State of: NJ

Neighbor's sump pump discharge location is in his backyard, a few feet from my fence. The water runs into my property. Anything I can do about this?

Default Re: Sump Pump Water Discharge

    We need more details.

How long has the discharge been there? Is it grandfathered into a previous building code?

Does your neighbor have a drainage easement over your property (said easement doesn't have to be in your deed to be valid, it can be a separate recorded instrument.)

From a practical standpoint, you could ask the neighbor to install a stone check dam or other method to slow the water down and minimize damage to your property.
