    Default Multiple Petty Misdermeanors

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Minnesota.

    Hello,
Please can anyone help me. I am a mother of a 19 year old daughter who lives in her own apartment. Her boyfriend and herself got into a huge argument after being in the town at a show. The were both drinking and returned home safely.
They continued shouting at each other and the neighbors called the police. Police arrived and searched the apartment. The police have charged my daughter with 5 petty misdermeanors. 1) underage drinking.(blew a .3)2) 5th degree domestic assault.(pushed each other )3) a small amount of weed (what was in a bowl)4) having drug paraphernalia.( pipes)5) Fake ID.( was never used just for fun)
She gave her statement while she was drunk and has no idea what she said. She was locked up for 72 hours, released with no access to her boyfriend until the court date.
A lot I know but this is her first time being in trouble with the law. Our family have never been in trouble either.
Can anyone advise me what too do as I don't know the first thing about helping my daughter. She got herself into this situation and has disappointed us all. She is not a bad child she has just made some poor choices which she will never make again.
Money is tight do we hire a lawyer?
Please advise me what the worst could happen to her ...we need help.
    Thanks.

If money is tight, suggest to your daughter that she see if she qualifies for a court-appointed lawyer. Your daughter needs to take responsibility for her actions and it's not worth your going into debt over these petty misdemeanors - the stakes aren't high enough, and it's unlikely that retained counsel will have that much of an impact on the outcome. If her record is otherwise clean she can explore the possibility of diversion or deferred sentencing - in some jurisdictions such alternative dispositions might allow her to avoid a conviction, although it doesn't help her that she has five pending charges.
