    Default Welfare Fraud in California

My question involves child support in the State of: California

(Ive lived in Cali since 2005) In 2008 my then girlfriend told me she was employed at a hospital. she was using my car, taking me to work and picking me up and going back to work. I was living with her and her mom along with my 2 yrs old daughter. I was paying the utilities plus car note, car insurance, medical insurance, personal bills. I was basically carrying my family on my back. She then told me that the county was garnishing her entire check due to past medical bills owed when she had our daughter. Then she heard from a friend to get on the county for cash aid and food stamps, she did. Everything seemed to be okay, she was happy. I never asked her questions about it and trusted her judgement. the next year i was served with child support papers saying that i owed 253.00 a month for my daughter ive been taking care of financially and in the household. she later than told me the reason i was served the papers and said that she told the county that i was not in the household. shocked by her actions, i begged her to stop it and handle the situation, she never did. Im far from a dead beat dad, ive been supporting my daughter way more than her and i recently found out the she never really had a job, she was lying about her employment, and there was never a wage garnishment put on her. i lost my car and job because of her lies. i now owe backpay in child support, while she is sits on her butt and does nothing to help our daughter, she has no job, drivers license, and lied to get money at my expense. could i still report her to welfare fraud agency? would they hold me responsible even if i had no knowledge? and do i have a chance for getting custody of my daughter? i cant afford to have my daughter being raised by someone who would lie and cheat to get money the wrong way, instead of getting a real job.

Why did you choose not to raise these issues in court when you were served with notice of the child support proceedings? If you did, why did the court find against you?

Why do you feel a sudden need in 2011 to report actions that occurred several years ago, when you apparently felt no need to act at the time?
