Default Will a Store Send a Civil Demand to a 13-Year-Old Shoplifter

Last wednesday, I got caught stealing a 10 Dollar beanie, from Urban Outfitters. I know I shouldn't have done this, I should'nt have even started shoplifting. The guilt has been eating me so much lately. But I need help.. I'm a minor and my first time offence. I live in California also.
    so ..
I was at Urban Outfitters with two of my friends, and so I decided to get a beanie. It was 10 dollars (I shouldn't have done it!) So when we were walking out, the sensor detector thing rang, and I thought they wouldn't care so me and my friend kept walking, they asked us to come back, we didn't go that far. We did, and they made both of us each walk through the detector thing to see which one of us had gotten something. It rang on me and the guy looked in my bad and found it. No damages were done to it. He told me to go to the back with him, He asked me for my name, address, birthday, and school. I didn't have my school ID with me when he asked. Then he talked to my mom which was already on her way to pick me up. When she came, he told her the company would be sending a letter to us which was a Civil Demand. He didn't call the police well I asked him if he was going to, he said no he wasn't. But then, before we were about to leave, i asked if Im going to get charged, and he said it's possible. But I read that normally, if they don't call the police on you, it's very unlikely I will get charged.

I don't know what to do.. and I know for sure I won't ever shoplift again.
What's going to happen to me? On the notice, it says I may be sent a civil demand letter.
Am I going to be charged? Or will I have to go to court? What's the chances?

In most states both a child and her parents are on the hook for the civil demand, so I would not be surprised if the store sends one to you and your parents.

If the store doesn't inform the police of the incident, you won't be charged.

Is it likely that the store will inform the police when they didnt call them when the incident happened?
